ORAH Strategic Master Plan & CBD High School Feasibility Study

ORAH STRATEGIC MASTER PLAN & CBD HIGH SCHOOL FEASIBILITY STUDY, SA

Following a competition winning entry (in conjunction with SLASH Architects) for the Old Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH) Site Ideas Competition, Phillips/Pilkington Architects were commissioned to conduct a feasibility study for the State Government to outline the possibilities for a new high school on the site.  The site was complex, with more than 28 existing buildings.  The study provided master planning and a strategic framework for the re-use of the site as a state of the art health and science secondary educational facility. It also formed the basis of the Government’s call for submissions for the construction of the project. The proposal created a permeable site with strong linkages to the Adelaide Botanic Gardens.  The CBD High School Feasibility Study process required in-depth analysis of existing facilities on the oRAH to determine their suitability to create contemporary learning spaces with lessons learnt applicable.  The Reid Building was selected as the site for the new High School and has recently opened as the new Botanic High.
