UNIVERSITY OF ADELAIDE, HUGHES BUILDING, SA

This project was concerned with an upgrade to the 1970's Hughes Building which joins the Mitchell Building on North Terrace and the Wills Building, which fronts the Hub.  It involved a variety of types of renovation, including:

• General upgrades to meet current legal requirements
• Demolition of now-redundant spaces
• Facade replacement to east and west existing elevations
• Roof replacement to ensure continuing weather-tightness, and a
• Basement Level transformation to create a new reception place for potential future students from many diverse backgrounds

We greatly enjoyed the particular challenges of creating a new Basement Level workplace for 36 academic officers and a new type of 'shop-front' welcome to students and their families, in the creation of a stimulating facility for the University.
