MAGILL PRIMARY SCHOOL MODULAR CAPITAL WORKS
Magill School is a Reception to Year 6 Primary School located in the Adelaide foothills. The school was allocated funding as part of the Department for Education’s Capital Works Program to provide learning areas more suited for the delivery of contemporary pedagogy. Phillips/Pilkington were engaged to deliver 13 new General Learning Areas (GLAs) which directly open up to large, shared breakout and withdrawal spaces, with connections to outdoor covered deck areas.
The new contemporary learning facilities replace the learning spaces in Building 13, which had inadequate acoustic separation, limited natural daylight and accessibility issues. The redevelopment provides spaces for the school that support play based and investigative learning, flexible spaces that can be opened up to create large spaces for collaborative learning/teaching and closed off for explicit learning, withdrawal spaces that cater for children with sensory requirements, connectivity between indoor and outdoor learning and wet areas for creative learning activities.
The design includes efficient storage and neutral colours and finishes to promote a calm and productive learning environment.
