Marryatville Residence

MARRYATVILLE RESIDENCE, SA

Built in 1957 by well known Adelaide architect Maurice Doley as his own home, the house was an inspiring example of modern architecture, featuring in the Royal Australian Institute of Architects Best Australian Houses published in 1961. In adapting the house to meet the needs of the current owners, who purchased the house in 1996, Phillips/Pilkington Architects worked collaboratively with landscape consultant Viesturs Cielens, endeavouring to maintain the design spirit of the house and gardens. Work included insertion of a new ensuite and redevelopment of the kitchen, bathroom, and laundry.
