This new Centre for the Environment and Visitor Centre is located on flat grazing land adjacent to the Old Renmark High School. The intention was to develop the site to create microcosms of indigenous wetland types for educational and study purposes in addition to the major exhibition space which addresses the Murray Darling Basin. The building's program is to provide educational and tourist facilities including: a wetland ecology teaching lab and research room, 120 seat lecture theatre, display areas, and administration spaces. The project incorporates extensive ESD features including a 5.4 kw PV power generator, winter solar hot water space heating, large rainwater tanks for re-use and on-site sewer disposal.
